Judy Buffa is
a Faculty Support Specialist for the Office of
Academic Affairs. She is originally from Memphis, Tenn. She is now happy to
call Sarasota home although she does need a Memphis barbeque fix every once in
awhile. Judy is a retired primary school teacher. She was with the Department
of Defense Dependents Schools (DODDS) for thirty years. She started her
overseas career in Germany and transferred to Okinawa, Japan spending most of
her time there. She traveled extensively in the Far East managing to acquire a
nice collection of teapots, fans and woodblock prints. An Educational Leave
while working with DODDS allowed her to earn an Ed.D. from Peabody College of
Education at Vanderbilt University. She has a Masters of Arts from Michigan
State University’s overseas division and a Bachelor of Science from Spring Hill
College in Mobile, Alabama. The regular classroom as well as many different
assignments in special education gave Judy lots of varied experiences. She
wanted to stay in Education but go in a different direction. USF has certainly
demonstrated that there are many roads to travel. Her passport is current and
she is always ready for a new adventure, on campus or far away.
