The parents of Erik Miller have chosen to honor his life through an annual literary prize in his name. Every yearin May, a piece of outstanding student work is recognized for its excellence by receiving the Erik Miller Prize
for Outstanding Literary Essay: $100 plus University recognition. Click here for more information.
Honors Program at USF Sarasota-Manatee. USF Sarasota-Manatee students can now elect to enrich their
undergraduate experience in the company of like-minded “scholars” who desire to study at an advanced level.

Faculty News & Accomplishments
The College of Arts & Sciences is very proud of its active scholars
On 17 October, Dr. Susan Harrington
presented a paper on the film adaptation of Hemingway’s To Have and Have Not to
the annual conference of the Literature and Film Association at Dickinson
College, Carlisle, PA. The paper was written in collaboration with student
Melanie Branscomb, alumni co-chair of the English Honors Society at USF S/M. Dr
Harrington and Dr. Suzanne Stein co-founded the
USF S/M chapter of Sigma Tau Delta in 2002. Since 1995 Dr. Harrington has
published more than twenty refereed articles, three written with students.
Dr. Jane Rose has been named Vice President for Arts & Culture of the
Sarasota
Sister Cities Association, Inc. (SSCA) The SSCA fosters international
relationships between Sarasota and cities that have similar interests by
creating exchanges in areas of culture, education, tourism, business and
government.

In Spring 2009, USF Sarasota-Manatee established a chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society, and tapped its first members. For more information regarding this chapter, please contact either Dr. Valerie Lipscomb or Dr. Susan Harrington.

USF Sarasota-Manatee student accepted into NASA internship program
Jessie Jones, 23, received his bachelor's of science in Information Technology from the
University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee on Sunday, May 3.
Next stop the Kennedy Space Center.
