Psychology
Program of Study at USF Sarasota-Manatee

Students attending Manatee Community College should complete the Associate of Arts degree in Psychology which will include:

State Mandated Common Course Prerequisites as follows:

PSY 2012 General Psychology and
Any other lower level Psychology course
STA XXXX Any introductory statistics or PSY 3204 Psychological Statistics (at USF)
BSC XXXX Any level Biology course or any lower level Zoology course
 
These courses must be completed before the Bachelor’s degree is granted. "C" is the minimum acceptable grade.

Majors must complete at least 34 semester hours in the field. All courses in the major must receive a grade of "C" or better.

2000/3000 Level Requirement: (6 hours)
PSY 2012 Psychological Science I
PSY 3204 Psychological Statistics (Or any introductory statistics class)

M
ethods Requirement: (7 hours)
PSY 3213 Research Methods in Psychology*

and one of the following:
CLP 4433 Tests and Measurements
PSY 4205 Experimental Design and Analysis

*A prerequisite for all 4000 level courses is a grade of "C" or better in PSY 3213.

Courses in category 1 and 2 must be completed before any 4000 level courses are attempted.

4000 Level Requirement: (21 hours-7 courses)

Two of the following:

EXP 4204C Perception
EXP 4304   Motivation
EXP 4404   Psychology of Learning
EXP 4680C Cognitive Psychology
PSB 4004C Physiological Psychology

Two of the following:
CLP 4143  Abnormal Psychology
DEP 4053  Developmental Psychology
INP 4004  Industrial Psychology
PPE 4003  Personality
SOP 4004  Social Psychology

any Three-four additional upper level Psychology courses

No more than 3 hours of the following courses may count toward 
the major:

PSY 4913  Directed Study
PSY 4970  Honors Thesis (Not available on Sarasota Campus)

PSY 4932  This may not count toward the psych major nor may EAB 4715 
(Supervised Practicum) or SYP 3000 (Social Psychology) count towards the major for Behavior Analysis program.

 NOTE: Additional courses outside the major will be required to meet university requirements for graduation.
