International Business (ITB)

Program of Study at USF Sarasota-Manatee

Students attending Manatee Community College should complete the Associate 
of Arts degree in Business and include:

State Mandated Common Course Prerequisites:

ACG 2021 Principles of Financial Accounting (or ACG 2001 & ACG 2011)
ACG 2071 Principles of Managerial Accounting
CGS 1000 Computer Information Systems (or CGS 2100)
ECO 2013 Macroeconomics
ECO 2023 Microeconomics
MAC 2233 Applied Calculus
STA  2023 Elementary Statistics (or QMB 2100)

NOTE: To be admitted to the College of Business, the student must first be accepted to the University of South Florida.  Additionally, students must have completed a minimum of 60 semester hours, earned a 2.50 cumulative grade point average, a minimum 2.0 GPA on all credit attempted at USF, completed the seven state mandated common prerequisites with a 2.00 GPA and no grade lower than a “C-“.  Admission requirements may be subject to change.  Please check 
with Academic Advising for the current criteria.

The Business Core common to all majors in business consists of the 15 hours of prerequisites plus the following (3-hour) courses:*

FIN 3403 Principles of Finance
QMB 3200 Business & Economics Statistics II
BUL 3320 Law and Business I
ISM 3011 Info Systems in Organizations
MAR 3023 Basic Marketing
MAN 3025 Principles of Management
GEB 4890 Strategic Mgmt & Decision Making

*Students must earn a C- or higher in each business core course & a 2.0 cumulative business core GPA.

International Business Majors (30 hours)

International Business Courses    (9 hours)

Students should see a Business advisor for a list of upper level international business courses.

Area Studies Courses  (9 hours)

Students should see a Business advisor for an approved list of area studies classes.

Business Minor/Concentration (12 hours)

Students may choose a minor from the following: 
Economics*
Marketing
Information Systems Management
Finance
Management

With each concentration, one course must be an international business course. The international business course is in addition to the three international business courses as required in the above International Business Major area.

Foreign Language Above First Year (9 hours)
Language(s) selected should support the area and the Areas Studies courses.

Overseas Business Internship (3 hours) or Semester Abroad
The overseas experience should support the foreign and area studies courses. 

The International Business Major is designed to be completed within 120 credit hours.  Certain courses satisfy requirements in more than one area.  To maximize academic options, students should seek guidance from a Business advisor once a decision has been made to pursue this major.

Also required for International Business Major:
• Advanced Writing Course
• Speech Communication Course

NOTE: Students must be admitted to the College of Business at least one term before their anticipated graduation date.

To be certified for graduation, students must achieve a 2.0 grade point average in the major field work, as well as all other college work attempted, both at USF and any other institution(s) attended.

American Sign Language is not approved by the College of Business for the Foreign Language Exit Requirement (FLEX).


All courses in the major or minor field and all foundation courses in business must be taken on a graded basis; the S/U option is not available.
