Planned Program of Study
- The Planned Program of Study is a
contract between the student and the
University stating all courses and
requirements for earning a MA degree.
- Students must meet with
Lisa Mullen,
graduate program specialist, early in
the first semester of study to complete
the planned program.
- Failure to
submit a planned program may result in
registration holds and inability to
complete key program requirements, such
as the practicum.
Program of Study
Special Education undergraduate majors
complete 36 credit hours; other
undergraduate majors may need to complete 45
credit hours. All courses 3 credits unless
noted. Degree and certification requirements
are subject to change in accordance with
State and University mandates.
In addition to coursework below, some
applicants may need to take these
pre-requisite courses:

The portfolio is a physical or electronic
collection of narratives and supporting
documentation that allows students to
demonstrate competency across five domains
of teaching: assessment; instruction;
classroom management; collaboration; and
systemic inquiry. These skill domains also
integrate relevant
National Board
Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS)
Exceptional Needs. One of the
culminating activities of the portfolio
process is the Portfolio Presentation.
