About the Program

The M.A. in Adult Education is a non-thesis 36-credit-hour program designed to develop knowledge and specific competencies required to prepare trainers of adults to function successfully in both profit and non-profit organizations. The course work is interdisciplinary, derived from an analysis of theory and skills recognized as essential in improving employee work performance. The courses and experiences provide for continuing professional development of employed individuals and for the preparation of those intending to enter a professional role that is concerned about adult learning and development.

Graduates of this program are prepared to work as trainers and facilitators, program developers and directors, and human resource developers in career positions such as human resources, career development, social service agencies, healthcare, government, and business.

The Cohort
This program is designed as a cohort program allowing students to take courses together in a planned sequence. Cohorts facilitate optimum learning and timely completion of the program. Such structure also allows students to form a strong network with fellow students.

Program Completion
Complete the program in six semesters taking 2 courses per semester while working full-time.
