  • USF College of Education Ranked 48th in the Nation by U.S. News and World Report
    TAMPA, Fla. (March 30, 2007) – The University of South Florida College of Education is 48th in the nation of America’s Best Graduate Schools for 2008 according to the new U.S. News and World Report rankings. This is the first time a USF college has broken the coveted top 50 graduate schools in these prestigious rankings. Last year, the USF College of Education was ranked in the top 25% of graduate schools (at 60th). This new ranking places the USF College of Education firmly in the top 20% of graduate schools in the United States.  Continued
     

  • Dr. Liz Larkin has been invited by The Division for Social Policy and Development of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs to serve as one of 12 experts to develop a paper on intergenerational solidarity to present in the Dominican Republic this October.

  • Donna Luther was selected for the Quiet Quality Award in September, and for all she does as Office Manager in the COEDU.

  • Please join the COEDU in congratulating the following students who are recipients of the Fall 2007 McCracken Educators Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes COEDU majors who exhibit leadership in their studies/field and in the community.

  • Dr. G. Pat Wilson of the Department of Childhood Education was honored with an Outstanding Professor Award at the Spring 2007 commencement on the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus. Each semester the graduating class votes for the full-time professor who exemplifies dedication to teaching and to students. Congratulations, Pat!

  • Book Launch
    Congratulations to the College of Education faculty for the recent publication by Teachers College Press of their collaboratively produced book A Pig Don't Get Fatter The More You Weigh It: Classroom Assessments That Work. The book represents faculty members' shared values regarding classroom assessment set against a background of diverse philosophies, experiences, and areas of expertise across four departments in the College of Education -- Childhood Education, Measurement and Research, Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, and Special Education.  "Pig" Details.

  • Anonymous Donor makes gift to COEDU Sarasota-Manatee to be used for scholarships for undergraduate and graduate education majors who are residents of Manatee County. The initial distribution is about $120,000, and this endowment will grow with a 50% match from the State of Florida and through annual supplements from the donor. Scholarship criteria are to be determined by faculty.
     

  • Dr. Weimin Mo of the Department of Childhood Education was honored with an Outstanding Professor Award at the Fall 2006 commencement on the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus. Each semester the graduating class votes for the full-time professor who exemplifies dedication to teaching and to students. Congratulations, Weimin!
