College of Education ~ USF Sarasota-Manatee
Chalk and Wire (C&W)

What is Chalk and Wire?
Chalk and Wire is an electronic portfolio (ePortfolio) system that the College of Education uses to assess and track student progress in attaining the required competencies for your program. Capturing this progress also allows USF demonstrate to accrediting agencies its ability to continue meeting accreditation standards.

What goes into the ePortfolio?

The COEDU ePortfolio assesses learning through examples of student work that are linked directly to program standards. The COEDU has directed which tasks will be uploaded to C&W. ePortfolio is used to document progress in learning over a period of time and supports reflective practice.

Is Chalk and Wire required?

Some majors - elementary education, early childhood education, reading education, and special education  - within the College of Education and students fulfilling ESOL requirements are required to purchase and use Chalk and Wire to document achievement of critical tasks/competencies.

Where/How do I purchase an access code for Chalk and Wire?

Purchase C&W at the USF Sarasota-Manatee Bookstore or online via the bookstore's website. Under the Buying Books Online section, input the current semester, "EDE" in Department; "0000" in Course; and "000" in Section.

Where do I go for help?
On the Sarasota campus, contact Anne Dobson, A112, 941-359-4268, adobson@sar.usf.edu.   Tampa's CW Help Desk is a great source too.

List of Critical Tasks by Program (if required):

These program Tables of Contents indicate which assignments are considered ‘critical tasks,’ those assignments that provide evidence of addressing the appropriate standards. These tasks must be uploaded to your ePortfolio.
