Dr. Richard King
Associate Dean

Welcome to the College of Education.

Please allow me to introduce myself as the Associate Dean of the College of Education (COEDU) at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee. Stepping into this newly created position to oversee the COEDU in a new campus environment in Fall 2006 was both thrilling and challenging. The recent campus expansion shows commitment from the university – a dedication to excellence and service in the community. The COEDU faculty and I pledge to you numerous opportunities to gain new understandings and develop superior skills as effective educators.

USF Sarasota-Manatee, as a regional campus of a Research Extensive-rated University, offers advantages of the larger university community and a small personal setting. USF is fully accredited by SACS and NCATE. The campus attracts quality professors from around the nation who are caring and concerned about each student’s professional growth. There is the best combination of research orientation and teaching dedication.

USF Sarasota-Manatee COEDU boasts 11 quality undergraduate and graduate degree programs that include experiences with modern technology while maintaining face to face classes in which students can be coached in learning theory and teaching methods. USF graduates are leaders in their fields!  They become master teachers, coordinators, principals and supervisors.

Consider these reasons to enroll at USF Sarasota-Manatee and re-visit your educational goals:

  • Quality programs and top-notch faculty.
  • Diverse learning strategies and convenient class schedules – including blended on-line studies, group problem solving activities, and practica experiences.
  • An exciting intellectual environment.
  • Each student is important and is never viewed as just a number. Faculty and staff know the students and develop strong supportive networks to enhance and help sustain the learning process.
  • A new Campus Center with a day care center on the premises.
  • A great location in your hometown.

I came to this campus because the USF Sarasota-Manatee College of Education is distinctive. We offer the best of everything – personalized educational opportunities, smaller class sizes, and one-on-one attention – that only a small campus can. Take advantage of the opportunity to study locally with your USF Sarasota-Manatee faculty, and see why I am proud to call it my home for higher education.
