Dr. Arthur M. Guilford was appointed as Vice President and Campus Executive Officer of the USF Sarasota-Manatee Campus effective April 20, 2007.  Previously he served as Interim Vice President and CEO since Dr. Laurey Stryker’s retirement in January 2006.

Prior to coming to USF Sarasota-Manatee, Dr. Guilford worked at the USF Tampa campus for over 31 years, moving from assistant, to associate, to full professor, to department chair and to his most recent position as associate dean of faculty and program development for the College of Arts and Sciences.  In that role he had extensive experience related to faculty governance, promotion and tenure, and program development.  A respected scholar in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Dr. Guilford has a strong track record in grant writing and research.  His most recent book was just published in 2007.  A faculty member since 1976, he has served on numerous college and university-wide committees.  He served as associate dean for the College of Arts and Sciences since 2004 and was chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders for 14 years prior to the associate dean appointment.

Dr. Guilford is a native Floridian and received his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University.  His master’s degree is from Tulane University and he earned his doctorate at The University of Michigan. He has taught at The University of Michigan and directed the Aphasia Program there.  He also taught at California State University Los Angeles before coming to USF.  He is very active on community boards and is currently on the Board of Directors of the USF-Patel Charter School.  He is pleased to be the Vice President and CEO of the USF Sarasota-Manatee Campus and is excited about its future.

Pamela Doerr is the Associate Vice-President for Student Services. She has served the campus for seventeen years as Coordinator of Admissions, Academic Advising, Scheduling and Director of Student Services. She has previously served on numerous university-wide committees and presently acts as USF Sarasota-Manatee representative on the Enrollment Management Action Team, Student Affairs System Council, Academic Regulations Committee, and Student Affairs Judicial Review Committee. She serves on the USF Sarasota-Manatee Strategic Planning Committee, Master Plan Committee, and as chair of the Sarasota-Manatee Enrollment Task Force. Ms. Doerr has been the USF Sarasota-Manatee liaison for the development and implementation of the 2+2/Joint Admissions Program with Manatee Community College. She has been involved with her community as Chairman for the Research Committee of the Junior League of Sarasota and Board Secretary for the Sarasota Day Nursery. She is the recipient of the USF Academic Advising Award. Ms. Doerr received her bachelor’s degree from the Ohio State University and master’s degree from USF.

Ben Ellinor is the Associate Vice President for Business and Finance; he has been at USF since July 2001. For five years prior to that, he served as Budget Director for New College. He came to Sarasota from Florida State University where he was a Coordinator, Administrative Services for the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice and served as a Coordinator, Continuing Education for the Center for Professional Development and Public Service. Before entering higher education Mr. Ellinor served for over 10 years as the Executive Director of the Gadsden County (FL) Chamber of Commerce where he led a successful economic development effort in generating new employment and business investment. He has a B.S. from the Florida State University School of Business.

Bonnie Jones is the Interim Associate Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs and the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. She started her second academic career at USF Sarasota-Manatee after retiring from Ohio’s educational system with 30 years of service at three state universities and on the high-school level. Dr. Jones has directed a variety of programs covering academic review and promotions, institutional research, admissions, financial aid, and student services. She received her bachelor’s degree from Miami University and completed graduate work at Kent State University, earning a master’s degree in educational administration and a Ph.D. in educational psychology. Dr. Jones’s primary research interest is in the prediction of student academic success based on demographic, academic, and psychological factors.

Richard Lyttle is the Director of Facilities Planning and Management and has served in that position since September 2005. He joined the University of South Florida in August 1990 as Facilities Planning Project Manager for USF Sarasota-Manatee and New College of Florida, a position he served in for more than 11 years. He then transferred to the USF Tampa Health Sciences Center and served as Facilities Planning Project Manager until October 2004. During a period of unprecedented growth at the Health Sciences Center, he was responsible for the planning and construction of more than $50-million of educational and medical facilities. Immediately prior to his appointment, he served as the Assistant Director of USF Tampa Facilities Planning and Construction. He currently oversees the master planning, design, construction and facilities management operations for USF Sarasota-Manatee. Mr. Lyttle is a registered architect, a past officer of the Gulf Coast Chapter/American Institute of Architects, and a recipient of a Florida   Association/American Institute of Architects Award of Excellence. He was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida and has resided in the Whitfield Estates area of Sarasota since 1979. He earned his undergraduate and Master of Architecture degrees from Georgia Tech.

Greg Mallay is the Chief Information Officer.  He has served in positions in public education and the business sector ranging from telecommunications, hospitality, healthcare, and software development. He has over 13 years of experience in the information technology field in both supporting and management roles. He was the Director of I.T. for Leisureworld Inc., a large Canadian company in the metropolitan Toronto area.  Born in Guyana, South America, and raised in New York City, he is a recent transplant to the Sarasota/Manatee area. Mr. Mallay earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in management and administration from the City University of New York.
 

Alexis J. Upham is the Director of Campus Advancement, having been appointed on October 1, 2001. She leads the Campus Development /Alumni Relations /Community Relations team to advance awareness, participation and support of USF Sarasota-Manatee. Ms. Upham has served in management, marketing, public relations, fund & community development, and community leadership roles. She is a former executive with Maas Brothers, Goodwill Industries Manasota Inc., and Girls Incorporated, and was Capital Campaign Consultant/Manager at Temple Beth Sholom in Sarasota. Born in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, she has resided in the Manatee/Sarasota area since 1973. Ms. Upham earned her bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Florida.
