“The secret joy of work is contained in one word - excellence.  To know how to do something well is to enjoy it.”   ~ Pearl S. Buck

Level Four:  Build an Electronic Portfolio

What is an electronic portfolio?

An electronic portfolio is a compilation of all your work.  Students can store and save academic work indefinitely through an electronic portfolio.  During the job search process, the electronic portfolio can be e-mailed to an employer as well.  An interview tells an employer what you can do; the electronic portfolio shows them what you can do with concrete evidence and samples of your work.

What can go into an electronic portfolio?

Your electronic portfolio can contain a wide variety of documents and information to highlight your work.  You can upload your resume, academic accomplishments, term papers, writing samples, spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations as well as audio, visual and graphic files.  Facts.org gives you the option to make three different portfolios.

Ready to get started?

Visit Facts.org to begin working on your electronic portfolio.  Click on Career Planning, then on Career Portfolio for College Students.  Finally, click on Create/Edit Portfolio to really get started.  There are sample resumes and a tutorial to guide you through the process from start to finish.  Make a login ID and password so you can access your portfolio and keep it updated.
