THE COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP COUNCIL

The USF Sarasota-Manatee Community Leadership Council (CLC) started meeting in January 2002 after being retooled from previous years.  It is comprised of 40 community and business leaders, 15 being USF alumni, from the Sarasota-Manatee County area who represent
15 different industries and sectors, and more
than 25,000 employees.

Clyde Nixon, chairman of Sun Hydraulics Corporation, is the 2005 chairman.  David Hicks, President of Aladdin Ward Electric & Air and USF alumnus, is the Vice-Chair.

The CLC’s charge is to advise the USF Sarasota-Manatee Campus Board and management team about program and service priorities, and advocate and present information on campus priorities to the community and elected officials.  The council has four committees: Community Affairs, Executive, Program, and Public Advocacy.  Jimmy Dean, publisher of Gulfshore Media Group, chairs the Community Affairs Committee; Nixon chairs the Executive Committee; Tim Clarke, Clarke Company, is chairman of the Program Committee; and Roger Frazee, a financial planner and USF graduate, chairs the Public Advocacy Committee.

The CLC meets quarterly on the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus.  For more information on the council’s work, please contact Lynn Evensen at (941) 359-4694, or via email at levensen@sar.usf.edu.
