The State of Florida provides, through its Trust Fund for Major Gifts, matching funds for privately funded endowments that enhance the instructional and research
programs of the University of South Florida. Endowment gifts which support faculty chairs or professorships, student fellowships and scholarships, or which help support research or other academic programs are eligible. Donors may
name gift endowments and designate them for any of the University's approved academic programs. Minimum endowment levels may apply to endowed chairs in some disciplines.

Payment Terms for Gifts of $600,000 and Above
Gifts of $600,000 or more may be paid over as many as six years. A matching grant is approved when the donor provides an initial payment of at least one-sixth of the total gift and a written pledge to provide the balance in five
equal installments within the next five years. The university receives the matching grant when all payments have been received. Trust and estate gifts are matched when the gift is distributed to the University.
Payment Terms for Gifts of $100,000 to $599,000
Gifts from $100,000 to $500,000 or more may be paid over as many as five years. A matching grant is approved when the donor provides an initial payment of at least one-fifth of the total gift and a written pledge to provide the
balance in four equal installments within the next four years. The university receives the matching grant when all payments have been received. Trust and estate gifts are matched when the gift is distributed to the university.
Challenge Grants for Facilities
This program matches gifts, which help build high priority instructional, and research related facilities. In order to qualify for a match, the facility for which the gift is designated must be on the university's and Board of
Regents' five-year construction priority lists. The donor must provide half of the construction cost; the State of Florida will match that gift with an equal amount. Gifts must be paid in full before the State will appropriate
matching funds.
