HOW TO RENEW:
Renewals are processed in person or electronically on the library catalog. For
renewal of materials borrowed from Jane Bancroft Cook Library,
renewal of materials borrowed from other USF Libraries,
held or recalled for another patron may not be renewed.
Please note: Electronic renewal is a service enhancement that patrons must use
responsibly. You must ensure that electronic renewals are processed
successfully. You should retain copies of renewal transactions for your records.
In the event of an error, these records are necessary to document fine
adjustments. If any doubts exist, come to the library and process renewals in
person.
HOW TO RETURN MATERIALS:
Books should be returned in the BOOK DROP at the Circulation Desk. Also, for
your convenience, there is a Book Depository outside the back door of the
library, available 24 hours a day.
Media items should be returned at the Circulation desk.
Interlibrary Loan books must be handed to a staff member at the Circulation
Desk.
FINES
The fine for overdue library books and media items is 25 cents per day per item,
beginning the day following the due date. The fine will increase by 25 cents per
item for each day to a maximum of $10.00. Overdue items should be returned to
the Circulation Desk and a fine slip should be requested. The fine should be
paid at the Cashier’s Office and the fine receipt returned to the Circulation
Desk so that the fine can be cleared from the Library’s computer system. After
one month, book replacement charges will be billed through the Department of
Finance & Accounting and must be paid at the USF Sarasota-Manatee Cashier's office.
LOST MATERIALS
Lost items should be reported to the Circulation Desk. After one month, the
library will begin the billing process. The patron will be billed $50.00 plus
the amount of the overdue fine, if any. Should the book be found, a credit will
be issued for the price of the book. The fine is not refundable. If a book is
not reported lost, the fine will accumulate at 25 cents per day until the
maximum fine of $10.00 is reached. The book will then be declared lost and the
patron billed for the price of the book and the $10.00 overdue fine. ANYONE
OWING $20.00 OR MORE WILL BE BLOCKED FROM FURTHER BORROWING until the fine has
been paid.
HOLD/RECALL/MISSING FROM SHELF
When material identified in library catalog is not on the shelf, patrons may
inquire at the Circulation Desk to request a HOLD on a book that is checked out,
a RECALL on a book checked out for over 14 days, or a Lost/Search on a book that
is not checked out but cannot be found. When the book is located or returned, a
notice will be sent to the requestor and the book will be held for pickup at the
Circulation Desk.
To protect the reading privacy of library patrons, names of individuals or
details concerning the materials they may have checked out is privileged
information and not available to the public.
