MEDIA CENTER SERVICES CAMCORDERS
As staffing permits, the Media Center will assist in the
filming of student or faculty presentations provided they occur during
Media Center hours. This service is limited to student and faculty
course assignments taught on the Sarasota campus. Camcorders are loaned
to Sarasota campus faculty, staff, or students who complete a training
session and need the equipment for valid instructional and research
purposes. Contact the Media Center for more information.
COMPACT DISC COLLECTION
All compact discs are available for use in the Media Center on
in-house equipment. A catalog of the compact discs is available at the
Media Center Service counter, or by searching LUIS.
COURSE RESERVES
Faculty may place listening or viewing assignments on reserve
for their classes. These materials are available at the Media Center
Service counter and are arranged by course number/title and professor's
name. These materials are available on a first- come basis.
EQUIPMENT REQUESTS
Students, faculty and staff can request for equipment be
delivered to classrooms by filling out a Media Center Equipment
Request form online at least 24 hours
(excluding weekends) prior to the date and time needed. The equipment
delivered includes overhead projectors, monitors, VHS players, DVD
Players, screens, LCD or multimedia projectors, and slide projectors.
Equipment is limited to instruction and research.
LAMINATION
Each semester students can have up to 50-square-feet of
material laminated by the Media Center staff. Written authorization by
the student's instructor is required before lamination services can be
performed. This service is limited to student and faculty course
assignments taught on the Sarasota-Manatee campus.
MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTION
Two computers are available with a flatbed scanner, slide
scanner, film printer, CD-Rom burner, and color laser printer. Software
includes Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Premiere, Avid Xpress Pro, Sorenson Compression Suite, Windows Media Encoder.
Reservations are strongly suggested.
VIDEO/AUDIO ENCODING
Where copyright is not an issue, the Media Center staff can
assist you in encoding video and audio so that it can be played back on
a PC.
VIDEO EDITING
Under the supervision of the Media Center staff, faculty and
students with research or instructional assignments can reserve the
video editor. This service is limited to student and faculty course
assignments taught on the Sarasota-Manatee campus. The copying and
editing of copyrighted materials is prohibited.
