  USF Sarasota-Manatee Names New Coordinator of Student Affairs

SARASOTA, FL, (July 13, 2005)The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee appointed Anne Patricia Dobson as coordinator of student affairs. Her responsibilities include providing USF support services; developing and directing major campus functions for students such as orientation, commencement and awards programs; advising student government; and facilitating the formation of student organizations, among other duties.

Dobson holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Loyola University (Chicago), and a master’s in adult distance learning from the University of Phoenix. She currently is pursuing her doctoral degree in instructional design from Minneapolis-based Capella University. Dobson has seven years experience in student affairs, as intranet administrator/course builder, and continuing education credit administrator at USF Sarasota-Manatee, Argosy University/Sarasota, and The Academy of Multidisciplinary Practice Inc. In addition, she has over 15 years experience in adult education and computer applications. She is a member of the USF Sarasota-Manatee Web team, and the orientation, commencement, and human resources event committees. She received the USF Sarasota-Manatee Employee of the Year Award in 2004-2005, and provides business manager support to the USF Sarasota-Manatee Student Government Association as well as other recognized clubs and organizations.

USF Sarasota-Manatee is an upper-level campus for those with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree interested in pursuing a baccalaureate or master’s degree, professional certification, or continuing education credit. The campus offers the prestige of a nationally ranked research university with the convenience of a hometown campus, including classes in south Sarasota County at Manatee Community College Venice.

The Crosley Campus Center, scheduled to open in fall 2006, will be a 100,000-square-foot facility with 24 classrooms; a 190-seat lecture/exhibition hall; seminar and video-conferencing rooms; computer labs; a daycare center; student gathering places; faculty and staff offices; a technology and learning center; dining facilities; and training facilities for the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management. Once completed, the Center will offer some 800 courses annually in 39 academic programs.
