USF SARASOTA-MANATEE ANNOUNCES EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR 2004

(Sarasota, FL, April 12, 2005) – The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee announced Chris Rubal as Employee of the Year 2004. Rubal’s responsibilities include providing USF students, staff and faculty with excellent service in his job as Director of the Media Center. Rubal oversees the Media Center staff and student workers and makes sure the often complex technical needs of the university’s faculty are met.

Rubal said, “I certainly appreciate the recognition; it’s much easier when you’re surrounded by good people. I’ve enjoyed working here for the past two years and look forward to an exciting future with the university.”

Rubal currently serves on the Web team and Human Resources event committee. In addition, he was co-chair of Fostering the Infusion of Technology into Teaching, where he assisted faculty with technology-based development, which is a way of using computers for better classroom instruction. Rubal has over 10 years of experience in creating and delivering content using a variety of emerging technologies.

Director of Facilities Planning and Technology Hugo Mazzoli said, “Chris is innovative and such an asset to the Media Center and to USF Sarasota-Manatee. He is outstanding in working with our faculty.”

Rubal received his Bachelor of Arts in telecommunications from Penn State University. He recently moved to Florida from California with wife Lisa and daughter Isabella.
