Newly established degrees at USF
Sarasota/Manatee add to campus offerings
Total of 25 degrees now in place;
fall semester starts August 27
(Sarasota, FL, August 20, 2001)
– Responding to a community and student survey, and the input of
businesses, governmental entities, and non-profit organizations, the
University of South Florida Sarasota/Manatee Campus has established four
new degree programs that add to an already solid list of campus offerings. Other programs tailored to student needs have also been put
in place.
Weekend
College. Starting this
fall, students can earn a non-thesis master’s degree in Criminology for
Professionals, or an undergraduate degree in General Business
Administration by attending college on Saturdays.
Two other
new degree programs. A
bachelor’s degree in Social Work, and a master’s degree in
Teaching/Teacher Certification.
2+2
program. In partnership
with Manatee Community College (MCC), the university recently launched its
2+2 program. For
first-time-in-college students who want to earn an associate’s degree at
MCC and then a bachelor’s degree at USF, 2+2 provides linkage between
the two institutions that helps students navigate admission requirements,
course availability, deadlines and scholarships.
Executive
MBA degree. Earn a
nationally accredited Masters in Business Administration on Saturdays
(30-month program) without traveling to the main campus in Tampa.
Also,
teachers of special needs and at-risk students can now take courses on
behavior management at the campus. In
the spring of 2002, a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology will
be added.
The Fall
2001 Semester starts Monday, August 27.

courses in 40 degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels,
now serving 2,500 students annually.
It is located at the Sarasota/Manatee County line on 140 acres,
touching the shoreline of Sarasota Bay and adjacent to the
Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport.
The regional campus is part of the University of South Florida, the
second largest university in Florida with more than 37,000 students, a
