Partnership with Glasser/Shoenbaum Human Services Center for
Service, Scholarship and Research
(Sarasota, FL
November 3, 2005) – The Glasser/Schoenbaum Human Services Center
and the University of South Florida, School of Social Work, at
the Sarasota-Manatee campus, is establishing a partnership to
meet community needs through service, scholarship, joint
research and collaborative learning for students and faculty of
the university and the staff of the Human Services Center
agencies. This new community partnership will be the focus of
the Center’s 15th Anniversary celebration on November
17, according to Dr. Kay Glasser, founder and Chairman of the
Board of the Center.
The collaboration
will achieve some mutual goals for both institutions including
providing opportunities for research for undergraduate and
graduate students in social work; enhancing the joint grant
opportunities for research; providing internships for students;
addressing manpower development needs in the local community and
enhancing relationships between working professionals and
faculty.
Through the
partnership, the Glasser/Shoenbaum Human Services Center will
become part of the National Quality Caregiving Coalition, of
which USF Sarasota-Manatee is already a member institution.
The public
celebration will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will feature
special guest Dr. Peter French, associate vice president and
dean for academic affairs at USF Sarasota-Manatee. French is
also a professor of Africana Studies at USF Sarasota-Manatee and
