Name change: “Crosley Campus Center” becomes “new campus” SARASOTA, FL, (October 3, 2005) – The new USF Sarasota-Manatee campus building, formerly referred to as the “Crosley Campus Center” during the development stages, will now be called what it is: simply “USF Sarasota- Manatee.” "Going forward, the reference to Crosley will be dropped. The change, effective immediately, has been made to more clearly identify the new facility, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2006. “It became apparent to us,” explained Dr. Laurey T. Stryker, CEO of USF Sarasota-Manatee, “that this slight adjustment in reference more clearly distinguishes the facility and defines its purpose.” Stryker also pointed out that the new USF-SM campus will include much more than just the new building that is currently under construction. “As you know, our campus footprint includes that property adjacent to the Crosley Mansion PLUS the other frontage we own along Highway 41 between the Crosley site and our current campus.” The USF Sarasota-Manatee campus is located in central Sarasota, and has an additional location in south Sarasota County on the campus of Manatee Community College in Venice. It has more than 3,300 students primarily from Sarasota and Manatee counties, with a distinguished faculty and numerous visiting scholars from over 20 countries. Approximately 10,000 USF Sarasota-Manatee alumni live in the Tampa Bay area. |
