Graduate School Test Preparation Courses Offered at USF Sarasota-Manatee SARASOTA, FL, (February 16, 2006) – Test scores matter. In fact, many of today’s graduate schools require highly competitive scores for admission. The fear of tests is common, and it prevents many people from pursuing graduate programs. However, now there is help locally for people who want to overcome their test-taking fears. USF Sarasota-Manatee now offers test preparation courses to help students optimize their scores on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). Most graduate schools require one of these two tests. Dr. Peter French, Associate Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs at USF Sarasota-Manatee, notes that the university strives to offer the community an array of quality educational opportunities. “We have an obligation to provide the needed support so that individuals can enroll in challenging academic programs to advance their careers,” said French. The university’s test prep courses are taught by experienced instructors who combine skill-building exercises and review with test-taking strategies. Classes are designed to improve scores and reduce test-taking anxiety. These review courses provide intensive classroom sessions and access to practice materials and software. Such proven study methods can provide the structured environment necessary for students to prepare for challenging coursework. “Unless a student can devote hours each day to study, I’d advise taking a coaching course,” said Tod Roberts, GMAT Verbal Instructor. Courses meet in the Hamilton Classrooms on the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus, located at 5700 North Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. The GRE test has two parts – Verbal and Math. The GRE Verbal Review class will meet on five consecutive Saturdays, February 25th through March 25th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The GRE Math Review class will meet those same dates from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The GMAT also has two parts. The GMAT Math Review class will meet on five consecutive Saturdays, February 25th through March 25th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The GMAT Verbal Review class will meet Saturday, February 25th and each Saturday March 11th through March 25th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. The cost for each review class is $230. Or, for $400, a student can take both math and verbal preparation classes for the GMAT or GRE -- a discount of $60.
