W.G. Mills gives gift of $100,000 to USF Sarasota-Manatee

SARASOTA, FL (December 18, 2007) –W.G. Mills, an industry leader in construction management and general contracting, recently presented the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee with a check for $100,000 to support campus development and scholarship.  The gift will be matched by the State of Florida.

 

“We are very grateful for this generous gift,” said Dr. Arthur Guilford, Vice President and CEO of USF Sarasota-Manatee.  “This kind of support makes a difference not only to our campus, but in the lives of so many students in our area.”

 

W.G. Mills, Inc. built the newly constructed USF Sarasota-Manatee campus and previously donated $100,000 toward the construction of the Campus Board Room, which now bears the W.G. Mills name.

 

Cliff Walters, Chairman of the USF Sarasota-Manatee Board, recently spoke about the need for such strong support at Brunch on the Bay, the campus’ annual fundraising event.

 

“The landscape for higher education is changing dramatically,” he said.  “What will emerge over the next few years will be a regional university of unequalled excellence.  To achieve this vision requires this sort of philanthropy.”

 

Lemuel Sharp, president of W.G. Mills, will be heading up the 2008 Brunch on the Bay at USF Sarasota-Manatee as Chairman of the event.

 

“We consider our gift one of the best investments our Firm can make in the Sarasota-Manatee area,” Sharp said.  “The presence of USF Sarasota-Manatee, indeed makes us a "University Town," and is one of our communities' greatest assets.”

 

W.G. Mills services many construction sectors including commercial, residential, renovations, educational facilities, health care, hospitality, and recreational facilities.  It owns six offices statewide.
