USF Sarasota-Manatee Academy for Lifelong Learning to host lecture about Russia

 

SARASOTA, FL (February 22, 2007) – On Tuesday, February 27 at 3:45 p.m. the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee’s Academy for Lifelong Learning will host Dr. Robert Barylski to speak on “Who is Ruling Russia Today?  Putin the Patriotic Czar or Putin the Vindictive KGB Agent?”

 

The free lecture is open to the public and will take place in the Selby Auditorium at the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus, located at 8350 N. Tamiami Trail (US 41) across from the Sarasota-Bradenton International airport.  Refreshments will be served at 3:15 p.m. before the presentation, which is part of the Jim Bausch National Issues Forum.

 

Barylski, who is an associate professor in the USF Department of Government and International Affairs, will present competing images of Vladimir Putin and evaluate the state of Russia today.  Using various images from the Russian media, he will discuss murders in and outside of Russia and will examine some of the wealth created since 1990 and the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
