JULIUS BRANDENBURG FUND GIFT FUNDS USF
CROSLEY CAMPUS CENTER BUSINESS/ENTREPRENEURIAL CLASSROOM And EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS (Sarasota, FL, March 25, 2005) – The Bank of America Client Foundation Julius Brandenburg Fund awarded the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee a $100,000 gift to enhance a state-of-the-art technology classroom for use by USF Sarasota Manatee College of Business students on the new Crosley Campus Center currently under construction and scheduled to open in fall 2006. The classroom will be named the Julius Brandenburg Business/Entrepreneurial Classroom. Matching funds under the Alec P. Courtelis Facilities Enhancement Challenge Grant from the Florida Division of Colleges and Universities combined with the private gift brings a total $200,000 to fund top-quality technology and construction for the new Crosley Campus Center. In addition to the Crosley Campus Center, the Bank of America Client Foundation Brandenburg Fund also awarded an additional $25,000 for the USF master’s level Educational Leadership Scholarship. The Brandenburg Fund has provided tuition assistance for 15 talented, future Sarasota School District administrators. The USF Foundation, a direct support organization of the university, manages endowed gifts and provides ongoing funds through investment earnings. Brandenburg came to Sarasota from New York, where he had been involved in the stock market since the 1920s. After serving in WWII, he became a member of the New York Stock Exchange as a corporate bond specialist. He died in 1986, leaving instructions for his foundation to use funds for local charitable purposes. Crosley Campus Center will be approximately 100,000-square-foot and house 24 classrooms; a 190-seat lecture/exhibition hall; seminar and video-conferencing rooms; computer labs; a daycare center; student gathering places; faculty and staff offices; a technology and learning center; dining facilities; and training facilities for the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management. Once completed, the Center will offer some 800 courses annually in 37 degree programs. USF Sarasota-Manatee is an upper-level campus for those with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree interested in pursuing a baccalaureate or master’s degree, professional certification, or continuing education credit. The campus offers the prestige of a national Research 1 university with the convenience of a hometown campus, including classes in south Sarasota County at Manatee Community College Venice. |
