USF Sarasota-Manatee and The Buzz 105.9 host “Summer Jam” concert
SARASOTA, FL (May 21, 2007) – On Friday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m. 105.9 The Buzz and USF Sarasota-Manatee will host the Summer Jam concert featuring Alternative Rock bands the Plain White T’s, The Almost, Riverboat Gamblers, and more in the Courtyard on the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus.
Tickets for the event are being sold at Ticketmaster and are $15 for general admission, discounted for students with valid ID, and $50 for VIP seating. Food and beer (21+) will be sold at the event and will be free for VIP ticket holders. The USF Sarasota-Manatee campus is located at 8350 N. Tamiami Trail, across from the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.
The Plain White T’s, a punk/pop band from Chicago, have been playing to packed audiences for nearly a decade and have been to the Warped Tour three times. Their first album, “Every Second Counts,” features their hit song “Hey There Delilah” and touches on hookups, breakups, and the rollercoaster in between.
The Almost has encountered success as the solo project of Underoath band member Aaron Gillespie and can also be heard at the Warped Tour. With an Alternative Rock sound reminiscent of the Foo Fighters, the debut album “Southern Weather” also lends a Christian Rock feel to the music.
The Riverboat Gamblers is a punk band
from Texas with two albums, a self-titled debut and “Something to
Crow About.” Also alumni of the Warped Tour, their sound emanates
bands such as The Candy Snatchers. USF Sarasota-Manatee is an upper-level campus for those with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree interested in pursuing a baccalaureate or master’s degree, professional certification, or continuing education credit. The regional campus offers the prestige of a nationally ranked research university with the convenience of a hometown campus, including classes in south Sarasota County at Manatee Community College Venice.
