YOUNG PROFESSIONALS GROUP SIMULATES ‘SARASOTA UNIVERSITY DISTRICT’ AT USF SARASOTA-MANATEE

(Sarasota, FL, September 1, 2004) – The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee has partnered with the Young Professionals Group, a division of the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, on a Thursday, September 2 event in College Hall at the USF 5700 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota-Manatee Campus. The event will run from 5:30-8:30 p.m., and will feature a “simulation” of what a university district should include.

USF Sarasota-Manatee and other area higher-education institutions have been working on the concept of a “Sarasota University District” that involves not only the four institutions but also the neighborhoods, adjacent property owners and the local governments.

College Hall on the bay front campus will be set up as a prestigious area of higher education, culture and arts in the North Tamiami Trail (U.S. 41) area. The area includes New College of Florida, USF Sarasota-Manatee, the Florida State University Ringling Center for the Cultural Arts and the Ringling School of Art and Design, along with area businesses and property owners.

Attendees will enjoy live music by Jennifer and the Venturas and hors d’oeuvres as they provide feedback about the university district concept.
