New Student Orientation
Dear New Student, Welcome to the University of South Florida Sarasota - Manatee!
We are pleased that you have chosen our campus to further your educational goals. Now that you have been accepted, your next step is to sign up for an orientation session. Our new student orientation is designed:
- To help you learn about the resources available on our campus
- To get to know fellow students
- To meet faculty and staff
- To learn university and college requirements for your degree.
Your first step is to obtain your NetID. Your NetID is unique to you. It is a secure login and password for accessing online services. To activate your NetID, go to
my.usf.edu (The "Sign Up" activation link is below the Login button).
This tutorial will assist you in the process. You will need to know your University ID number, or "U#". This unique identifier can be located on your Orientation letter or your Admissions packet.
You have two options with how you complete our mandatory orientation. You can complete it at your leisure using our online format, or you can choose to attend a live session on the specified date. The fee for Orientation is $30, regardless of which option you choose.
Due to space constraints we ask that guests not attend unless necessary, maximum 1 guest per student. Please complete the Reservation Form as soon as possible to help us with the planning process.
We encourage you to make an advising appointment with your Advisor as a "newly admitted student" prior to Orientation. Academic Advising after the live orientation session will be in a group format. If you are completing online orientation, you can schedule your advising session before or after going through orientation, but you will not be able to register until you have completed an advising session.
Schedule your advising appointment
When you go to this site, log in if you have previously made an appointment with one of our advisors, or click "First Time User" and create your account. Once you are logged in, select "Newly Admitted Student" as your Department, select your college/major as the Activity, and then select the appropriate option under Advisor. Once confirmed, you will be scheduled to come in for your advising session which is mandatory for all new students. If you are a College of Business or a College of Arts and Sciences student your advising will be in a group format, because of limited space we ask that you not bring guests or children to the session. If you are attending a live session, you also have the option of completing advising immediately after the group Orientation portion. Students in South County can call (941) 408-1577 to schedule their advising session.
International Students
International students are required to attend an additional orientation in Tampa. Please refer to the International Admissions Web site for complete information. It is extremely important to adhere to these guidelines.
You are required to attend both Orientations.
College of Nursing
College of Nursing Orientation. It is mandatory to attend a College of Nursing Orientation upon acceptance to USF and College of Nursing. Registration for nursing classes is done on the day of nursing orientation. Additional health form required for Nursing students.
