Dr.
Robert B. Cockrum (MBA, JD, CPA)
began the Accounting Society at Indiana
University, and started development of the USF Sarasota-Manatee
Accounting Society soon after arriving on the USF campus in 2002. The
foundation was
set for the only other organization of its kind in the country to see
exciting changes in the coming year.
He began his career
with Arthur Young & Company (subsequently renamed Ernst and Young),
working in their tax department. After three years with Ernst and Young,
he accepted a position with Indiana Purdue University at Fort Wayne
(IN). During his 12 years at IPFW, Dr. Cockrum taught accounting,
business law and taxation. For 6 of those years he was head of the
Accounting, Financial and Law Department. After leaving IPFW, he started
his own CPA practice, specializing in taxation of closely held business
and highly compensated individuals. In 2000, Dr. Cockrum sold his CPA practice and continued
working for the buyer for a year thereafter.
Dr.
Will Quilliam (Ph.D., CPA)
has been with USF
since 1991. He is a former auditor with Ernst & Young. He teaches
courses in cost accounting and auditing, is active with the FICPA, and
is co-advisor for the USF Sarasota-Manatee Accounting Society.
He taught at the
University of Florida and the University of Central Florida before
coming to our campus ten years ago. Dr. Quilliam is a resident of
Manatee County and is originally from Indiana. He received his Ph.D.
from the University of Florida.
