Our Mission

The mission of the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee Student Government is to support our students through Activities, Services, Advocacy, Leadership and School Pride.

Look for Student Government

The pool table, game machines, Television, and air hockey table are available in the Recreation Room, A122, for those times when you need to relax and decompress. We also have different games you can rent from the Student Government Offices. Where is the Recreation Room? In the A-corridor on the first floor, near Jonathan's Cafe. As it happens, SGA offices are right across the hall! (A110).

Know, also, the best way to ensure that you get what you need and want while at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee is to become involved in Student Government. Become a Senator for your college. Check with Regina Oykherman, your Senate Chair, (telephone 941.359.4717) for the details.

Leadership

Leadership is not so much about technique and methods as it is about opening the heart. Leadership is about inspiration of oneself and of others. Great leadership is about human experiences, not processes. Leadership is not a formula or a program, it is a human activity that comes from the heart and considers the hearts of others. It is an attitude, not a routine.

More than anything else today, followers believe they are part of a system, a process that lacks heart. If there is one thing a leader can do to connect with followers at a human, or better still a spiritual level, it is to become engaged with them fully, to share experiences and emotions, and to set aside the processes of leadership we have learned by rote.
